Kipkaren Farewell

As of 5:19 PM Thursday, August 2, 2007 we are all home.  The Kenya Team of Bethany Bible Fellowship has returned from nearly three incredible weeks of seeing God’s glory.  How does one person summarize a trip for eight?  Probably our emotions summarize best.

We feel

  • Humbled by the servanthood and love of the Kenyans in Kipkaren.

  • Awed and amazed by the ongoing vision Empowering Lives has for encouraging folks right where they are.

  • Saddened to leave so many children and adults who shared everything they had with us for two weeks.

  • Satisfied to have built needed shelves, repaired electrical problems, and supplied braces and therapy to children with disabilities.

  • Hungry to see what God will do with our hearts and our experiences.

  • Passionate with a renewed desire to share the love of God with anyone we may meet.

  • Encouraged to know that God does know the plans He has for us.

  • Pleased to have witnessed the graduation of 33 young agriculture students who will now train others to live effectively off the land.

  • Burdened to bring the attitudes the Kenyans had toward each other to those in our hometowns.

  • Tired from hours of travel, but, mostly,

  • Blessed to be part of the global family of God and to have a better idea today what that means.

Thank you to all who supported us with prayers, notes, finances and other encouraging acts of love.  Our blessing is certainly yours as well.  Your upheld hands provided the power of God to our labors.

The Kenya Team will present a multimedia of our trip to the 10:30 AM service at Bethany Bible Fellowship on Sunday, August 19, 2007.  Anyone interested is welcome.  We will continue to post any other opportunities to hear our stories on this website.
