| The
procession carrying boxes with 600 copies of the Zapotec
New Testament |
 |
| January
3, 2003. The dedication of the Zapotec translation of the
New Testament took place on the basketball court between
the town hall and the Catholic Church. A table was set
up with a box of New Testaments placed upon it. Town authorities
and others sat in positions of honor behind the table.
The townspeople filled cement bleachers and other areas.
The representative of the town mayor cut the ribbon and
opened up the first box of New Testaments in their Zapotec
language. Dave Riggs spoke about the history of the work
and several people read portions from the New Testament.
Another speaker shared how God's Word is more important
than bread, and Sylvia encouraged the women to read God's
Word. |

| A
Christian music group played loudly for people's enjoyment.
In the
evening the first and the last hour of the Luke video was
shown to a crowd packed into the town square. When seeing
the crowd's reaction, a person commented: "They are
amazed!" It was exciting to think of all of the people
who viewed the video of the birth, death and resurrection
of Jesus for the very first time.
